Why a 20ft high cube

A 20ft high cube is 9’6″ tall outside and about 8’10” inside, one foot more than a standard 20ft on the same footprint. That makes it the usual base for tiny homes, studios, workshops and storage of tall equipment on sites where a 40ft does not fit. It is sold one-trip here: factory paint, a new floor and a single voyage behind it.

20ft high cubes are built in smaller numbers than standard 20ft units, so not every depot has them and the price gap is larger than the extra foot suggests. If the height is not critical, a standard 20ft one-trip saves several hundred dollars. More detail on 20ft high cube containers.

Check before you pay

Check the CSC plate for the manufacturing date and the size code 25G1, which confirms a 20ft high cube. Look over the paint and corners for transport damage, test both doors and inspect the floor. If you plan a tiny home, remember that container floors are treated against pests at the factory and are often sealed or covered in a build.
